Description
This pure fish collagen powder, like the Pure Arctic MSC fish oil (capsules), is made in Norway from the same fresh, healthy, wild fish. The fish collagen powder owes its perfect taste to the very fast processing of the fish in cold northern Norway. Arctic Blue's fish collagen powder.
Important information
Fish contains high-quality protein in addition to the healthy good fats. Proteins are our building blocks. As we age or exercise, they become more important. Of all the protein in our bodies, 30% is collagen. Connective tissue gives us structure and strength. The most important part of it is collagen. Skin, bones, tendons, cartilage, ligaments, blood vessels and teeth also consist largely of collagen. As we age, collagen production decreases. The body's own production of collagen is supported by taking fish collagen capsules or fish collagen powder (and with the help of vitamin C). Collagen hydrolysate means that the fish collagen has been cut (hydrolyzed) into smaller pieces of protein called peptides. Every collagen supplement (powder or capsules) is a hydrolysate. In our bodies, we further cut the peptides into individual amino acids that are absorbed into the blood. The reason Arctic Blue chooses fish collagen is that it is most similar to human collagen, which is explained here. In addition, Arctic Blue is the only brand with a seal of approval for its collagen powder, which proves that it comes from wild fish (and not from e.g. farmed tilapia or cows).
Clear results have come from a study done with Arctic Blue's fish collagen. In 20 subjects, skin hydration was measured after 8 weeks of taking 10 grams of collagen daily. This showed that in the forearm an improvement of 11% was measurable. However, in the face, the hydration of the skin was found to have increased by as much as 35% due to the action of the collagen. The formation of wrinkles is related to many factors. It is well known that collagen is responsible for skin firmness and elasticity. It is a fact that as you age a bit, collagen breaks down. Collagen type I is found in: skin, bones, cartilage, connective tissue, ligaments, tendons, blood vessels, hair and nails. It consists of about 20 different amino acids. More than half of these are essential or semi-essential amino acids. Essential means that we cannot make them ourselves, but must get them through our diet. So depending on your diet, taking extra fish collagen is helpful.
It doesn't matter that much. Personally, I prefer a scoop in my morning cottage cheese with oatmeal. But you can also dissolve it in a cup of tea, water or juice/smoothie.
Besides a nice natural flavor, the main ingredients are of course the fish collagen peptides (86%) and powder of the acerola fruit. This is a type of cherry from the tropics with a high content of natural vitamin C. Compared to an orange, it contains 30 times more vitamin C.
We have now found the best fish collagen. So now we want to get it absolutely right. We therefore add a little natural vitamin C (in the form of acerola powder) and not synthetic ascorbic acid. The reason for this is that a healthy body needs enough vitamin C to make collagen itself from this, from the absorbed amino acids. This has been known for a long time and is even described by Wikipedia.
The European Authority (EFSA), which oversees the safety and scientific verification of health claims (used on food and health products), has therefore approved that the following applies to Arctic Blue's Pure Arctic MSC fish collagen powder with added vitamin C:
- Vitamin C is important for the formation of collagen which strengthens the skin
- Vitamin C plays a role in the creation/reconstruction of cartilage
- Vitamin C contributes to the maintenance of strong bones
Studies show that an optimal dosage is between 5 and 10 grams per day. In other words, that's 1 to 2 scoops. When using collagen for the first time, 10 grams per day is recommended in the first month. After that, a daily maintenance dosage of 5 grams is sufficient. That's why we put this on the packaging.
Per measuring spoon - 5gr:

FAQs
Not from cows (often the case), not from tilapia farmed fish (often the case), but it is made from the skin of wild Norwegian cod. So it is fish collagen from wild fish. PS: vegetable collagen does not exist. So it always has an animal origin.
A 150-gram jar contains 30 x 5 g. Measuring spoon is in the jar. 01/01/2026

This is allowed and can be done without any problems. You then benefit from the high-quality protein that contributes to muscle building, recovery and maintenance. Active athletes, seniors and middle-aged people will certainly benefit.

The protein (and therefore amino acid) content is at least 95%.
It is a guarantee that the collagen comes from wild fish and not from farmed fish from Asia. The MSC label is the strictest label for products made from wild fish. There is therefore a check that it is actually wild fish and that the fish stock is maintained at the right level and that the fishery is not causing damage to the environment and ecosystem.
Pure Arctic Collagen is an ideal supplement to our own declining collagen supply. It contains type 1 collagen. This is the main type of collagen because 90% of our own collagen is type 1.
It is found in our skin, bones, teeth, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, hair, nails, blood vessels and connective tissue. Viscollagen is closest to our human collagen and has a good amino acid profile.
That means it contains the building blocks for our own human collagen. In addition, Pure Arctic Collagen powder also contains natural vitamin C, which is important for the formation of the body's own collagen which strengthens the skin.
Vitamin C also plays a role in the creation/building of cartilage and helps maintain strong bones.
Yes indeed, men also suffer from declining collagen production.
To be sure. Athletes can definitely benefit from this. It promotes muscle building, recovery and maintenance, so ideal for athletes.
