The man behind Arctic Blue

The Omega-3 Specialist with principles.

When I quit my job as a fish oil expert 8 years ago and started Arctic Blue,
I did so because I knew that many Omega-3 fish oil users have questions or
experience ambiguities.

With the knowledge that I could solve them.

The main points I want to discuss here.
1. The brands of Omega-3 supplements I am familiar with cause me to burp up fish smell. This makes regular intake not easy. Is this normal?
2. Which product should I choose?
3. What about the durability of Omega-3 supplements?

Many people are aware of the importance of oily fish and therefore take an Omega-3 supplement. They take, for granted, the common aftertaste or fish smell that occurs after ingestion.

What they don't know, however, is that this is not normal. The delicate unsaturated Omega-3 fats have become damaged and this causes them to oxidize resulting in the taste abnormality.

Also, these Omega-3 fats are also less effective.

So it is a quality problem.

You can easily avoid this by choosing a good quality fish oil or algae oil. These can be recognized by the blue MSC label or the Vegan label, respectively.

Which product should I choose?

Not everyone is the same and tastes differ. Taking an Omega-3 supplement should be doable or even enjoyable. This prevents people from dropping out. Some people absolutely cannot swallow capsules. For them, we also offer each formulation in a liquid form.

We recently started offering a soft gummy as well, when we noticed that some
seniors or little ones prefer this.

Oily fish is one of the few foods that contain vitamin D.

Fatty Omega-3 oil therefore lends itself perfectly to adding the fat-soluble vitamin D.

Not an unnecessary luxury when you realize that 60% of the Dutch have a vitamin D deficiency in winter.

So in addition to the different Omega-3 dosages, we also offer them with or without vitamin D.

What about the sustainability of Omega-3 supplements?
We are increasingly getting this question. Logical and justified when you see companies making a run for it. We have a firm opinion on this and a lot to say about it, which is why we like to do it on a separate page:

Our principles

1. Clean fish oil

Our fish oil is made (from the fillet-cuttings) from fresh Arctic wild cod swimming in the Barents Sea, this lies between Nova Zembla, Svalbard and Northern Norway.

One of the cleanest waters in the world, far from the plastic soup in the Pacific Ocean between Asia and South America.

All our fish products come from sustainable fisheries and carry the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seal of approval.

2. Fresh algae oil

Our plant-based Omega-3 products are made from algae. Algae are mini-plants that can make their own Omega-3 fatty acids even on land in enclosed and controlled conditions.

With the oil from the algae we are already making various products. Since algae are the future, more and more will be.

All of our plant-based products carry the VEGAN label. With this we guarantee 100% that no fish oil has been used.
